Wikia are wiki communities creating free content with the MediaWiki software.
These wikis are hosted for free by Wikia, Inc., the company which runs also this project, "Search Wikia". Wikia is a selective wiki hosting service founded in 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley under the name Wikicities.
